Making contact with a service
Although all the services included in the Directory have subscribed to the CBN, each service is unique and different. We have provided a brief description of each service but primarily the role of the CBN is that of an intermediary. Once you have identified a local service, the next step should be to contact the service directly to discuss in detail what can be offered in terms of information, guidance and support. You should be aware that there may be charges and waiting lists for some services.
National services
There are also a number of national services which may be able to offer information and support
Services not included in the Directory
There are other specialised children's bereavement support services in the UK which are not included in this Directory. These services offer guidance and support to specific groups of children or young people. For example, many hospices offer specialised care and services to children and young people affected by the death of someone under the care of the hospice, but are not able to offer this support to children bereaved by other causes.
Although the number of 'open access' specialised children's bereavement support services is growing, there are many gaps around the country. In addition, this Directory only contains details of services which have subscribed to the CBN.
