WORKING WITH CHILDREN FACING LOSS AND BEREAVEMENTThis workshop aims to give the participants an understanding of the issues for children aged 11 and under facing bereavement. This workshop will look at children's understanding of death and how they can be supported during the terminal illness of someone close to them. There will also be a focus on enhancing skills and confidence in working with children who are bereaved. This course will not aim to equip trainees to counsel children/ young people, but rather to support them in the context of their family and their experience of bereavement. A selective, comprehensive modular course consisting of 5 three-day units, over a 6 month period. HEALTHCARE OF THE DYING CHILD AND BEREAVED FAMILYThis module is a 20 credit module and is part of the BSc (Hons) Nursing Practice (Children’s Nursing) award as well as the Post Graduate Certificate in Child Palliative Care. Students studying this module can expect to extend their knowledge and skills in caring for children who have life-limiting illnesses, and their families, whilst increasing the coping abilities of carers. The module is open to all registered nurses and other health and social care professionals who work with this client group.
