NARRATIVES AND STORYTELLING IN PALLIATIVE CARE

Listening to narratives underlis much of sound assessment, therapeutic intervention and qualitative research in palliative care.  This day will critique the narrative approach and look at a number of examples of effective and creative use of story and narrative in research and clinical practice with adults, children and families.

YOUNG PEOPLE FACING BEREAVEMENT

This is a day for chaplains and chaplaincy workers who have contact with young people between 11 and 18 and wish to learn more about their needs in facing loss and bereavement.  This day will look at how young people grieve, different approaches and skills in supporting them, and more difficult issues such as bereavement by sudden death.  The spiritual and religious role of the chaplain in supporting young people and their families who experience loss will also be explored..
