This event explores latest research and practitioner advice on care and support for these traumatically bereaved and vulnerable people.
3 November 2010 TEENAGERS AND BEREAVEMENT A one day interactive workshop that aims to explore the experience of bereaved teenagers and identify ways to provide appropriate support. Target audience: for all professionals who come into contact with bereaved teenagers in the course of their work, whether in the statutory or voluntary sector.
9 November 2010 WORKING WITH CHILDREN FACING LOSS AND BEREAVEMENT This workshop aims to give participants an understanding of the issues for children aged 11 and under facing bereavement. We will look at children's understanding of death and how they can be supported during the terminal illness of someone close to them. We will also focus on enhancing skills and confidence in working with children who are bereaved. This day will be of particular interest to: healthcare professionals; counsellors and bereavement services; social workers; school staff, teachers and educationalists; clergy.
10 November 2010 PROBLEMATIC, UNHEALTHY GRIEF - A DEBATE. 'PROLONGED GRIEF CAN BECOME A MENTAL DISORDER'When does prolonged bereavement or complex grief become a 'mental disorder'? What are the manifestations of serious disorder and should psychiatric services be implemented? These are just some of the issues that will emerge on this Masterclass which takes the form of debate.
12 November 2010 GROUP WORK IN END OF LIFE CARE: HOW TO DO ITThis day is designed to consider the mixed economy of groups from one off meetings, short term focussed groups to therapeutic and maximising spontaneous group stimulants. The principles and practice of facilitating effective groups will be presented with case examples of a variety of groups commonly run in day, therapeutic and bereavement care.
